Get the archive [[here|files/daemon.tar.gz]], once extracted you will have two jars, one README file and an empty file called managed.txt.

This is the desciption page for the daemon controlling Virtualbox.

A [[How-to]] section is provided where you have almost all the technical information.

Along with this documentation a README file is provided with the archive and I will try to keep both in sync.

The daemon relies on the webservice provided by the main Virtualbox installer. The daemon itself is written in Java and compiled with to be java 1.6 compliant.
On Linux or Mac OS X the webservice  can be located at ''/usr/bin/vboxwebsrv''. On windows it depends on where you installed Virtualbox.

Virtualbox Java API is the subject of a heavy rewrite and thus the daemon will need to be maintained to support the next version of Virtualbox.

Options are passed as Java system properties, here is a list of some of them.
# Delay: -Ddelay=TIME  TIME should be an integer and is in millisecond.
## Default value is 600000
# Interface: -Dtype=INTERFACE up to now only ''ws'' is supported and it is already the default option.
## Default value is ws, a new value will be available when Virtualbox releases it's Java XPCOM API.
# Session: -Dsession=SESSIONTYPE 
## Default value is gui, headless is also available.
# VM List: -Dvmlist=PATHTOVMLIST 
## Default value is managed.txt, make sure you provide a valid file name, failing to do so will prevent the daemon from starting.
# Debug Mode: -Ddebug
## Value can be true or false, default value is false.
So for a daemon running in verbose mode using the websession interface that will launch every machines without creating a new window, type :

It will take the default delay between 2 snapshots of 600 seconds or every 10 minutes.
