Objective :
The strategic objective of the project NeuroWeb is to gridify the biomediacal application called NeuroWeb on the middleware XtremWeb-CH (www.xtremwebch.net), developed since 2003 at HEPIA.
Abstract :
Cerebral functional imagery unites different techniques in order to obtain an image of the brain in activity. It is an active multidisciplinary field of international research calling upon methods at the cutting-edge of mathematics, signal processing, computer graphics and differential geometry. The practice of this research not only involves clinicians (in particular the epilepsy neurology as well as other major problems of the nervous system) but also cognitive neuroscience experts, whose main concern is to develop models suitable for data processing.
In this context, many scanners have been developed these last years, for example, MEG and EEG. Their objective is to establish the cartography of the electric neuronal state of the cortex. These neuronal charts are complex to create and require intensive computations. The method suggested by NeuroWeb consists in carrying out this computation on the grid computer platform XtremWeb-CH (XWCH). A grid computer is a set of heterogeneous computers, interconnected by the Internet and equipped with a middleware making the whole set of computers as a single virtual supercomputer
